Meet Otto

Terms of Use

By using L'Ottobahn, you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Scope of Service

L'Ottobahn is a non-commercial hobby project whose sole purpose is the statistical analysis of train delay patterns on the German rail network, presented through a gamified interface. Users predict train departure delays and compare their predictions against an AI model ("Inspektor Otto"). All participation is anonymous — accounts are automatically generated guest sessions requiring no registration, no email, and no personal information. Points, rankings, and achievements have no monetary value. No real money is wagered, won, or lost. There are no advertisements, no paid features, and no revenue.

2. Prediction Disclaimer

Predictions displayed on L'Ottobahn — whether made by users or by the AI — are for entertainment and informational purposes only. Users must rely on official Deutsche Bahn timetables and announcements for travel decisions. L'Ottobahn accepts no liability for decisions made based on predictions shown on this platform.

3. No Warranty / Limitation of Liability

L'Ottobahn is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of the service, train data, or predictions. To the extent permitted by law, liability for damages arising from the use of this service is excluded, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.

4. User Conduct

Users agree to use L'Ottobahn in a fair and respectful manner. The following is prohibited:

  • Abuse of the service, including spamming predictions or manipulating scores
  • Automated access beyond normal use (bots, scrapers, etc.)
  • Any attempt to interfere with the service's operation or security

5. Intellectual Property

All content on L'Ottobahn — including text, design, graphics, code, and the "Inspektor Otto" character — is owned by the operator unless otherwise noted.

6. Data Sources & Third-Party Attribution

L'Ottobahn uses publicly available timetable and real-time data from the Deutsche Bahn (DB) Timetables API, provided through the DB API Marketplace (developers.deutschebahn.com). This data is accessed in accordance with DB’s published API terms. L'Ottobahn is an independent, non-commercial project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by Deutsche Bahn AG, DB Fernverkehr AG, or any DB subsidiary. The names "Deutsche Bahn", "DB", "ICE", "IC", and "EC" are registered trademarks of Deutsche Bahn AG and are used here solely for factual reference to the rail services whose schedules are analyzed. No official DB logos, branding, or proprietary imagery are used on this site. Weather data is sourced from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0). Scheduled timetable data is enriched using GTFS.de feeds (CC BY 4.0).

7. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. For consumers, mandatory consumer protection regulations of your country of residence remain unaffected. Place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these terms is Ennetbaden, Canton of Aargau, Switzerland, to the extent permitted by law.

8. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication on this page. Continued use of L'Ottobahn after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
